FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Canadian commercial foodservice equipment brand expands its commitment to energy efficiency with a full line of ENERGY STAR certified commercial ice machines
BOLTON, Ontario, April 29, 2026 - NORIOTA is pleased to announce that it has become an ENERGY STAR Canada Participant through a Participant Administrative Arrangement with Natural Resources Canada.
The arrangement recognizes NORIOTA as a manufacturer and brand owner participating in the commercial ice maker category in Canada. As an ENERGY STAR Canada Participant, NORIOTA has committed to promoting energy efficiency, following ENERGY STAR technical and brand requirements, and offering products that have been independently tested and certified to meet applicable ENERGY STAR performance specifications.
“NORIOTA was created to provide Canadian foodservice operators with dependable commercial equipment, clear product information, and strong long-term value,” said Jessica Helms, Director of NORIOTA. “Energy consumption is a meaningful operating cost for restaurants and other commercial kitchens. Becoming an ENERGY STAR Canada Participant supports our goal of helping customers select equipment that performs reliably while using energy and resources more efficiently.”
A Full Line of ENERGY STAR Certified Commercial Ice Machines
NORIOTA currently offers a full line of ENERGY STAR certified commercial ice machines for the Canadian market.
The line includes undercounter and modular ice-making equipment designed for restaurants, cafés, hotels, healthcare facilities, convenience stores, institutional kitchens, and other commercial operations.
ENERGY STAR certified products must meet strict energy-efficiency specifications and complete applicable third-party testing and certification requirements.
According to ENERGY STAR, certified batch-type commercial ice makers are approximately 10 percent more energy efficient and 20 percent more water efficient than standard models. Actual energy and water use will vary based on the specific model, production demand, installation conditions, incoming water temperature, ambient temperature, maintenance, and operating practices.
Expanding NORIOTA’s Energy-Efficient Product Offering
NORIOTA plans to pursue ENERGY STAR certification in additional eligible commercial foodservice equipment categories as its Canadian product line expands.
Future certification decisions will be based on product performance, customer operating value, applicable program requirements, and the availability of eligible equipment categories.
“Energy efficiency is not a standalone marketing feature,” Helms added. “It affects operating costs, equipment selection, and the long-term value a product provides. Our objective is to make efficient commercial equipment more accessible while continuing to improve the technical information, documentation, parts support, and service resources available to our customers.”
